Launched in July 2022 with funding from the Global Environment Facility, the UNDP Climate Aggregation Platform (CAP) Financial Innovation Challenge aims to foster the development of innovative financial aggregation structures and models that can help increase the availability and reduce the cost of financing for low-carbon energy in developing countries.

Launched at the United Nations Climate Conference COP27, the Africa Minigrids Program (AMP) is a country-led technical assistance program that supports countries to rapidly and cost-effectively provide electricity and new development opportunities to some of Africa’s poorest communities.

With vehicle emissions in the headlights at COP26, the United Nations and Global Environment Facility today announced plans to help 27 developing countries accelerate their shift to zero-emissions electric mobility.

The Africa Minigrids Program (AMP) is a country-led technical assistance program for minigrids, active in an initial 18 African countries. AMP is expressly targeting early-stage minigrid markets, seeking to establish the enabling environment for subsequent private investment at scale. With GEF funding, the United Nations Development Programme will be implementing the program together with Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), linking up with a wide array of minigrid stakeholders in Africa and beyond.
