This publication provides an overview of initiatives under the GEF Small Grants Programme's (SGP) climate change portfolio which fall under the following thematic areas:

The private sector has a key role to play in driving sustainable development. Micro, small and medium enterprises account for 90 percent of the private sector and more than 50 percent of employment globally. As such the sector provides an opportunity for innovative, inclusive and sustainable economic development. The GEF Small Grants Programme facilitates partnerships between civil society, community-based organizations, and the private sector to scale up and promote the sustainability of community-led initiatives.

The proliferation of harmful chemicals is a growing concern for human health and well-being and the global environment. 

This publication shows that improving energy efficiency can play an important role in helping countries meet their commitments under the Paris Agreement. The first part of the brochure presents eight case studies of technical assistance projects by UNDP and GEF in energy efficiency in eight countries: Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine. The second part presents UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) experiences related to energy efficiency in the region.

National Dialogues provide a means for a broad range of stakeholders within a country (government ministries and agencies, non-governmental/civil society organizations, communities, academic and research institutions and the private sector, as well as partners and donors) to come together to learn, discuss and agree, or take steps toward agreement, on environmental issues across the board.

ECW Home   The ECWs bring together GEF focal points, focal points from the main Conventions (Biodiversity, Desertification, Climate Change and POPs), representatives from civil society and representatives from the GEF Secretariat and the GEF Agencies.
