Alexandre Pinheiro Rego

Alexandre is a member of the GEF Communications team and is responsible for media relations and for supporting the leadership team with a focus on recipient countries of GEF grants. He also leads country-level communications efforts and oversees the implementation of the GEF Visibility and Communication Policy.

Before joining the GEF in 2023, Alexandre worked for 25+ years as a communications professional in the private sector, the Brazilian Central Bank, and the Brazilian Presidency, and as a journalist covering economics and finance for leading global media outlets.

He has a MSc in Media and Communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), a Certificate in Business Sustainability Management from the University of Cambridge, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Brasilia.
