Jonky Tenou
Jonky Tenou serves as the Senior Environmental Specialist and Africa Regional Coordinator at the GEF. He leads the Africa Team, oversees resource programming across the region, and manages a diverse portfolio of ongoing projects.
With over 20 years of experience in human development and sustainability, Jonky has worked in complex environments across Africa and the Caribbean. He previously led the integrated REDD+ Program at UNDP in the Democratic Republic of Congo and held key roles at IFAD, including Task Manager for the GEF Integrated Approach Program and Country Director a.i. for Eritrea and South Sudan. His earlier work at UNDP included disaster risk management in Haiti and climate change and sustainable development in Togo. Jonky also held senior positions in Togo’s Ministry of Environment.
He holds multiple advanced degrees in environmental, water, and natural risk management, is a certified PRINCE2, and is pursuing a PhD at Bangor University (UK).
