Katsumasa Tanaka
Katsumasa Tanaka joined the Global Environment Facility's Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) and Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF) team to work on its climate change adaptation programs, with a focus on programming in Pacific Small Island Developing States and Sudan. He is also engaged in the Challenge Program for Adaptation Innovation, which aims to catalyze innovation and private sector partnership in climate adaptation. Additionally, he leads the data and portfolio management of the LDCF and SCCF, as well as their engagement in fragile and conflict-affected situations.
Prior to joining the GEF in 2024, he worked for the International Organization for Migration in Egypt as an Environment and Innovation Officer, leading its environment portfolio and supporting humanitarian response efforts. He also has experience working for a diplomatic mission in Sudan and a leading business consulting firm in Japan.
He was a Rotary Foundation scholar at SOAS, University of London, where he received an MSc in violence, conflict, and development.
