Nurgul Irsalieva
Senior Program Assistant, GEF
Nurgul Irsalieva is a Senior Program Assistant in the GEF Conventions and Funds Division, working for the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund (GBFF) since May 1, 2025.
Nurgul supports the team and the GBFF councils including Auxiliary Body members, Observers, and Advisory Groups.
Before joining the GEF, Nurgul was a seasoned Program Assistant in the Vienna-based Financial Sector Advisory Center (FinSAC), working with the Prosperity Finance ECA team from 2011. Before relocation to Vienna, Austria, Nurgul was Executive Assistant in the World Bank's Kyrgyz Country Office.
Originally from the Kyrgyz Republic, Nurgul graduated from the Kyrgyz National University with distinction in English and German studies. Nurgul also completed post-graduate courses on political science at Bonn University.
Nurgul speaks Kyrgyz, Ukrainian, English, German, and Russian.
