Tasila Banda
Tasila serves as a Senior Biodiversity Specialist in the GEF Programming Division. In her role, she ensures that her work is in alignment with the GEF's mission to deliver global environmental benefits within the biodiversity focal area.
With over 20 years of hands-on experience leading conservation projects with international organizations (World Bank, UNDP, UNEP, IFAD, AFDB), governments, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and academia in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the United States of America, Tasila has contributed significantly towards project oversight as well as implementation. The majority of the projects she has previously worked on have been GEF-financed.
Tasila holds a PhD in conservation ecology from the University of California, Davis (USA); a Master of Science degree in environmental studies from Arizona State University (USA); and a Bachelor of Science degree in natural resource management from the University of Zambia.
