Tshewang Dorji
Tshewang Dorji dedicates his efforts to advancing climate change adaptation solutions in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). His work aims to generate real and measurable impacts that deliver results on the ground while being connected to a broad set of initiatives and processes at an international level. He also spends considerable time engaging with government representatives, development agencies, and groups to connect the dots between potential funding and well-designed solutions that can quickly make a difference and help people live safer and healthier lives, even in locations with very limited means.
Dorji began his career with the National Environment Commission of Bhutan in 2005, where he worked extensively in the climate change and sustainable development area. In 2019, he joined Climate Analytics, advising the Chair of the LDC Group and managing operations of the Office of the LDC Chair at the UNFCCC process, before joining the GEF in September 2020. He led negotiations on transparency under the Paris Agreement for the LDC Group and consulted for the World Bank, helping to establish the Bhutan Climate Fund, which connects global carbon market processes to domestic opportunities.
Dorji, from Bhutan, holds a master's in environmental science from Yale and a bachelor's in environmental engineering from the University of Wollongong.
